The City of Henderson is calling on all artists to design and create unique murals for 3 utility boxes located in various locations in the Water Street District.

The utility boxes range in size and shape. The first box is approximately 5’7” long, 5’1” wide, and 3’8 ½” tall (totaling approximately +/- 28.38 square feet). The second box is approximately 3’7” long, 2’9 ¾” wide, and 2’0” tall (totaling approximately +/- 10.08 square feet). The third box is approximately 5’7” long, 5’1” wide, and 3’8” tall (totaling approximately +/- 28.38 square feet). The painted utility boxes will enhance the cultural beauty of Water Street and the Water Street Plaza and support the City’s efforts to make the Water Street District more welcoming for all.

The murals must encapsulate multiple themes that are present throughout the Water Street District. This includes Water Street’s “Go with the Flow” theme, or other elements that highlights Water Street’s unique history and culture. As a result, the murals should focus on this “Go with the Flow” theming and/or showcases Henderson’s rich and unique history for all residents and those who visit the Water Street District.

Either one artist or up to three different artists will be chosen for the project. Selected artists will have one week to complete the mural(s) and mural(s) must be completed by no later than May 9, 2024.

Selected artist/artist teams will be rewarded on a range beginning at $1,000 up to $2,000 depending on the size of the utility box.
