The main objectives include locating rare plant occurrences and weed infestations and compiling
a plant species inventory for the project area. The contractor shall conduct field surveys for plant
species of interest across 9,814 acres of the proposed project area. The intensity of field surveys
will vary depending on the habitat types encountered within a given treatment unit. Intuitive
Controlled surveys for Threatened, Endangered, or Proposed and Region 4 Forest Service
Sensitive (TEPS) and other rare plant species of concern will be the most common survey
method conducted. The contractor shall perform prefield research to determine areas of potential
habitat for rare plant species within the project area. In addition, non-native, invasive plants
discovered while conducting rare plant surveys and while travelling roads within the project area
will be documented. The contractor shall document rare plant occurrences and weed infestations
by capturing their geospatial locations and extents, and using the forms provided by the Forest
Service Botanist assigned to the project.
